PPA Picnic postponed to Friday 8 February at 6 pm

Date: Feb 06, 2013 2:48:33 AM

Our Waitangi Day Picnic is postponed to Friday 8 February at 6 pm.

Yes, folks, the weather isn’t going to improve enough and in time for today, so the committee have quickly decided to postpone the event to Friday when the weather is forecast to be good. In fact it looks like dry weather will be with us from tomorrow already, but by going right to Friday we can benefit from the ‘drying out’ by then.

Instead of a BBQ we suggest you bring some pre-cooked food, such as fish and chips to munch as we come together for at least a neighbourhood chat, but other things too, we hope!

See you all there!

With the recent dry weather, water conservation has been a hot topic. The PPA constructed a rain water harvesting system for the community hall which has been well documented.

If your interested in utilising your rain or spring water for gardening here is how the PPA did it.

Halo

Date: Aug 16, 2013 7:58:50 PM

Our aim is to make Wellington New Zealand’s natural capital by making all back yards into safe havens for native wildlife. We already have a number of wildlife hotspots (like Zealandia, Otari-Wilton Bush and Oruaiti Reserve) and now it is time for us to restore the full dawn chorus (which most New Zealanders have never heard) and see wings over all of Wellington. – See more at: http://halo.org.nz/

Pinehaven School Strategic Direction

Date: Aug 24, 2013 6:15:39 AM

The Board of Trustees are currently reviewing the strategic direction of the school. We have a short survey to help inform this process. We are hoping to have as many of our families complete this as possible.

This survey is your opportunity to comment on the review of Pinehaven School’s strategic direction. The school charter sets out this strategic direction, including the school’s vision and values. The Board of Trustees consults our community every three years when it reviews the Charter. This is an exciting time, we are starting with a ‘fresh page’ and we would like to hear your voice. What are your ideas? What will learning at Pinehaven School look like during the next three years? The results of this survey will help us to identify the issues and ideas that are most important to our Pinehaven School community.

We expect this survey will take approximately 10-20 minutes to complete, depending of the amount of time you spend thinking about your answers. The online version of the survey can be completed by clicking on the link below. All responses are totally anonymous.

https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/PinehavenStrategicPlanConsultation

If you would prefer to complete a paper version of the survey, these can be collected from the office and returned via the soldier in the office or by post.

The survey will be open for the next 2 weeks. We encourage you to send the link to any community members, parents of pre-schoolers or parents of past students who you think might be interested.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Meet the Candidates – NEW DATE

Date: Aug 29, 2013 8:30:37 PM

TUESDAY 17TH SEPT 7.30PM – SCHOOL HALL

The PPA has organised a meeting in the school hall to give the community a chance to meet and question the people who are standing for the local body elections later this year.

With our local councillor Pat Christianson standing down, it is even more important that we take the time to carefully consider what the prospective councillors’ views are on local issues. For example, who supports local facilities and who believes in a centralised model? Views on the proposed restructuring in the Wellington region are another potential hot topic. So come along and make your votes informed votes.

The meeting will be chaired by Pat Christianson.

Upcoming meetings on local council restructuring

Date: Nov 06, 2013 4:44:41 AM

Kia Ora Koutou,Upper Hutt City Council is trying to tell as many people as possible about two upcoming meetings on 21 November, which will be run by the Local Government Commission, and deal with the subject of local government reform in the Wellington Region.

Upper Hutt residents have told us they are strongly opposed to several of the proposed reform options (including a supercity), so we want to make sure they are aware they will have the chance to present their views to the commission on 21 November.

I’ve attached a copy of an advert we’ve run in the Leader, and thought I’d send it out to Upper Hutt associations for circulation also.

If you have any questions or comments I would be happy to speak with you.

Kind regards,

Christine Robinson
